Once again we attended the Rocky Mountain stamp show in Aurora Colorado.
We started our Journey on Monday and made it to Henderson, Nevada. Sylvia and I hunted for places to play pickleball and made our way to Sunset Park which has 24 outdoor courts. A beautiful park. The next morning we started our day at the new chicken n pickle at open play. No better way to start the day.
Onwards to Green River for the night. Quaint little town but no pickle ball. We arrived at the Sheridan hotel on Wednesday night. Thursday we found some public pickle ball courts and off we went. We were able to do some drilling as this is a young community and most play happens in the evening.
We set up our stamp display on Thursday and were ready to go! We want to thank Ron and commitee members for always trying to do whatever he can to make it a huge success for all dealers.
Dinner was amazing at The Viewhouse. Very close to our hotel. We sat out on the balcony facing the mountain range with a grand view of those snow capped peakes. We shared a glass of Sauvignon Blanc from Australia, what could possibly go wrong.
It was great to see familiar faces and greet new collectors at the show. In fact, we had a young couple who just purchased their first stamps with us. Sylvia took time to work with them and they decided to begin their search collecting China and Germany since that’s where they were from.
We sold a tremendous amount of Souvenir Sheets this weekend including some of the more rare ones. We had a few unique covers from the colonies that were immediately grabbed.
On another note; we purchased a great Used Gabon collection in beautiful condition which is already in stock. We also acquired Japan offices collection in mint and used condition and a French offices in china collection
During our stay in Aurora we went to the Olive Branch Grill. A very quaint Italian restaurant with a nice wine selection and great Italian and Greek entrees. Do not miss the dessert, the Almond Martini which was the perfect ending to the day.
We also went to Ted’s Montana Grill. We had the Ribeye which was cooked perfectly. The restaurant had a nice ambiance to it as well. Great restaurant with lots of laughs to end the day.
Sunday, the last day of the show was well attended. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with our take down process. We almost made it before the storm but during our last load, we got drenched and temperatures dropped. It felt like it was below 0. The drive out was horrible with torrential downpour and snow. We made it to Frisco for the night.
We set forth to see Canyonlands National Park on Monday and saw the arch, it was another beautiful park. We made it back to Green River for the night.
Our last night was spent in Henderson so we can start the day playing pickle ball at chicken n pickle before heading home.
We set off on our way home from Henderson. About 30 miles from Baker we heard a very loud screeching sound. Sylvia pulled over immediately. Luckily there was plenty of room to pull off safely. An hour and a half later AAA arrived and changed the tire which we were told was a blow out. Scary there for a minute.
\We made it home safe!
